Battlecry is a 220 page rules supplement from Paizo for Pathfinder 2e. It answers the age old problems many DMs/GMs find themselves with – what happens when the players get into a war or battle zone? Aside from new rules for skirmish warfare and units, it contains the new Jotunborn ancestry (big blue dudes forged from the blood of giants), the Commander class (a battle ready class using tactics and a banner to rally troops and provide bonuses to other PCs) and the Guardian class (like protecting your allies? This class has big buffs for protecting others).

Along with new classes and ancestries, there are tons of new feats, war backgrounds, archetypes (used for multi-classing in P2e), new battle magic spells and rituals (group casting ceremonies in P2e), rules for followers, siege engines and new weapons, new magic items (including banners and whetstones), loads of troop unit stat blocks, advice for running war campaigns, and Golarian battlefield lore; all tied together by reports from a battlefield reporter.

This is a handy book for P2e GMs who want to add wars and skirmishes to their campaigns, and is of high quality, as with all Paizo products. Ah, who am I kidding. Most P2e fans will already have this book. Keeping in mind that Paizo provides compact digest-sized versions of their rule books for half the price of the hardcover, I’ll leave it to you to decide which version you prefer. And don’t forget that Paizo supports worker unions, and recently faced some big issues with the Diamond Distribution bankruptcy tying up millions of their books in legal hassles. They’re a good company to support, especially in light of WoTC‘s recent moves to digitise the f&*$ out of everything (who needs to own any D&D stuff we pay for anyway lol).
