Mirror of Remembrance

Wondrous Item, Very Rare (requires attunement)

The Mirror of Remembrance is a beautifully crafted, ornate mirror framed with intricate carvings of ancient runes. When activated, the mirror’s surface shimmers and reveals a swirling vortex of memories and past events.

Once per day, the attuned user can activate the Mirror of Remembrance to open a gateway to a specific personal memory by concentrating on a particular event or person from their past. The portal remains open for up to 10 minutes, allowing the user and up to 5 willing creatures to step through and experience the memory as if they were there. They can interact with the memory, but any changes made do not actually affect the past.

Additionally, the Mirror of Remembrance can store up to 3 memories. The attuned user can choose to store a memory by touching the mirror and concentrating on the event. Stored memories can be revisited at any time, even without fully opening the portal.

Every time the Mirror of Remembrance is activated, there is a 10% chance the attuned user becomes trapped in a memory for 1d8 hours, unable to interact with the real world. During this time, they stand before the mirror in a catatonic state, reliving the memory repeatedly.
