Heart Shaped Box

Wondrous Item, rare (requires attunement)

The Heart Shaped Box appears to be a fairly ordinary 2-feet x 2-feet x 1-foot wooden box built in the shape of a heart with a hinged lid. Inside, five magic symbols are carved on the floor of the box. These allow the attuned user to access storage chambers on different planes of existence. Items stored in one chamber cannot be accessed from another. The attuned user must touch the relevant symbol on the floor of the box to access a specific interplanar chamber.

Each chamber can hold up to 200 pounds of material, not exceeding a volume of 20 cubic feet. The contents of each chamber are preserved in stasis, preventing decay or aging. The Heart Shaped Box can be locked by the attuned user with a command word – once they do so, only they can open it. If the box is forcibly opened by another, it triggers a plane shift spell, transporting the opener to a random plane of existence, but leaving their heart behind. This not only kills the opener (unless they are a creature without a heart, such as an ooze), it teaches them not play with a heart shaped box without permission.
