Spear of Elemental Fury

Weapon, rare, requires attunement

This finely crafted spear is adorned with intricate designs that seem to dance with elemental energy. The shaft of the spear is made from a rare, shimmering wood found only in the heart of ancient forests. The head of the spear is made from a mysterious, iridescent metal that shifts in color as it captures the essence of different elements.

The Spear of Elemental Fury allows its attuned user, as a BONUS action, to link the spear to one of four elemental affinities: Fire, Cold, Thunder and Acid. The spear then deals an additional 1d6 damage of the chosen damage type on a successful hit, until the end of the current round.

When the spear is connected to an elemental affinity, the wielder gains resistance to that element’s damage type until the end of the round.

Once per day, the attuned user can channel the spear’s elemental energy for a devastating attack. As an ACTION, they can cause a blast of energy causing damage of the type they used a BONUS action to select (see above). All within a 20 ft. radius must make a DC 15 Dex save or take 4d6 damage of the chosen elemental affinity type. While the attuned user is unaffected by the blast, anything else in the radius is affected, friend or foe. Once this ability has been triggered, the spear loses its ability to deal additional damage via its elemental affinities, until it recharges at dawn the next day.
