I waited
and waited
and hoped
and you arrived.
Without acclaim,
without excess,
but not without baggage
of your own.
Seared with silent wounds
in mirrored grace
and Savoir-Faire.
And all the waiting and the hope,
all the self-hate and the scars,
all the loneliness I had known,
receded like the tide,
trawled by an incumbent moon.
Now you’re here,
your smile a nascent whirlwind
threatening to drag me
kicking and screaming
from this storm cellar.
Threatening to hold me
endlessly.
I’ll try not to let go.
