New DnD 5e Magic Item: Verdant Acorn

A semi-regular column: new magic items! Let’s see how long I can sustain the enthusiasm for this lol!

Verdant Acorn

Wondrous Item, Rare

The Verdant Acorn appears as an ordinary acorn, its shell etched with delicate leaf patterns. It is warm to the touch and exudes a faint, earthy scent.

You may speak a command word inscribed on the acorn and toss it to a point on the ground within 60 feet. The acorn bursts open on impact – all normal plants in a 100-foot radius centered on that point become thick, vibrant, and overgrown. Grasses grow taller, flowers bloom, and trees sprout new leaves. The effect lasts for 24 hours, becoming a haven for wildlife, attracting birds, butterflies, and other creatures, with the plants providing half cover to creatures within the effect.

Sylvan Guardian (use the stats for a Dryad), appears in the area. It is friendly to you and your companions, understands your languages and obeys your spoken commands. If you issue no commands, the Guardian defends itself but takes no other actions. At the end of the duration, or if the Guardian drops to 0 HP, or if you use an ACTION to speak the command word again, it reverts to acorn form.

The Verdant Acorn cannot transform areas devoid of natural plant life, such as deserts or barren wastelands, indoor or underground areas. Its magic cannot affect living creatures or constructs e.g. you can’t throw the acorn at a creature and expect that creature to be covered in plants.

Once used, the acorn’s magic cannot be activated again until 7 days have passed.
