Haiku Friday. Anxiety. A Haiku Trilogy.

Anxiety. A haiku trilogy.

1. Harbinger
Tingling on your skin,
harbinger of darker things.
The skies open wide.

2. Run
Run while you still can,
‘fore this acid rain melts you.
Too much weight to bear.

3. Hide
You canโ€™t hide from this.
A pall hangs over you that
doggedly consumes.

I suffer from anxiety, but manage it much more effectively now than I did a few years ago.

These haikus are for all the anxiety sufferers out there.

Stay strong

  1. I completely forgot about Haiku’s! How cathartic, I love it. If you see me write one it is all creds to you my friend. ๐Ÿ™‚ Thanks for the great idea for a coping mechanism.

    1. When I first struggled with anxiety, I couldnโ€™t leave the house at all. I worked with a therapist to talk through my issues and force me to face my fears. I went out gradually and over time my anxiety reduced (this happened over about 8 months). Having supportive people such as my parents and my church helped a lot. Anxiety is a very difficult thing to cope with. I know of some people who carry care kits with them, so if they have an attack they have medication and other tools on hand to help them. I found dark sunglasses were immensely helpful, just to cut down external triggers and help with peace of mind. I can go out without them now. I also used meditation apps like Smiling Mind, which I listened to on my phone through headphones. My confidence grew over time so I donโ€™t need the app anymore. Relaxation mantras to recite when you have an attack are also handy. ๐Ÿ™‚
