Aftertaste. A poem.

You were here, then gone
A muse for just a while
A bittersweet, infuriating

Aftertaste

That lingers on my tongue
And in my thoughts
And lines

A subtle conclusion
To remonstrate
And redefine

An acidic fingertip
Dipped in ink
Burning tattooed lines
In heart and skin
In remembrance

Bygones be bygones
A dear song, loved long

My bittersweet
Infuriating

Aftertaste

You linger on
